There are a few spelling variations for Xacuti. You may see it as Chacuti or even Shagoti. Like quite a few curry recipes, this dish has Portuguese origins due to the occupation of Goa. It is quite often used with Duck, but is equally good if using Chicken, Beef, Lamb or rustic style vegetables. It will have quite a hot spice level, and be very fragrant, with specific flavours of coconut, star anise, fenugreek and tamarind.
