From time to time we get requests to add certain dishes that customers have had on their travels. Some we get right and some don't quite work out and don't make it to our sales channels. We had a request recently for a Keralan style Malabar curry, and after a couple of trials i am more than happy to add it to our product list. It is a lovely medium/hot curry with its origins in the Keralan/Goan region. We tested it with Chicken, Lamb and King Prawns and it worked really well with all !!!

 

PANCH PHORON. This can also be known as Bengali 5 spice. It is an aromatic mix of Fenugreek, Nigella seeds, Mustard seeds, Cumin seeds and Fennel seeds. Authentically this would not be a fine ground mixture, but the seeds would be left whole. More information on the product page.

Other blends that are being developed are a South Indian Xacuti curry, a Malaysian style Satay and either a Durban or a Cape Malay South African curry blend. The main stumbling block when bringing a new blend on board is the year round availability of the authentic ingredients that of course we need.

Once again many thanks for your support during lockdown, touch wood our regular markets and events will resume in mid April...

The first new product of 2021 is our Caribbean curry blend. After multiple tests and tweakings, (the hard part!!!)  it is now available on the site. We have gone for a medium to medium hot spice blend using Scotch Bonnets, Thyme and Ginger, 3 of the must have ingredients in Caribbean cookery.

We are still working on other blends of course, namely a Goan style Xacuti, a South African Durban curry and an Indian 5 spice mix called Panch Phoron. Hopefully these will pass the tough quality control tests soon !!!

Well we made it to the end of the year. I'm sure we all have our views on 2020 and whilst it was tough at times, i have to give thanks to my incredibly loyal customers for moving over to mainly online sales, due to the cancellation of so many of our markets and foodie events. The early part of 2021 will i am sure be equally challenging, but hopefully some sense of normality will return. Thanks again to everyone who placed orders with me, have a very happy new year, and see you in 2021.

Just a quick line or 2 to firstly thank everyone who has continued to order with us, especially during this uncertain period we are going through. Your custom keeps our little business going and we are very grateful. We are continuing to work on new blends, some pass the test and some don't, but the ones looking promising are a Garlic Pepper seasoning, a Caribbean curry blend and a South African style Durban curry mix. We will of course announce these as and when they go 'live'...In the meantime stay safe and keep supporting small and independent businesses.
